Quick answer. All the most-asked dune buggy Dubai questions in one place - licence rules, age and height, pickup logistics, weather cancellations, photographer add-on, what to wear, fitness requirements, and how to book through WhatsApp.

What the experience is like

We assemble this FAQ from the actual WhatsApp threads our team handles every week. The questions reflect what guests genuinely ask between booking and slot day - not what we think they should ask. Use it as a reference, then message us if your specific scenario is not covered.

Most questions cluster into five themes: licence and age (who can drive, who can ride), what to bring (clothes, ID, gear), what to expect (the route, the timing, the photo stops), what happens if (weather, no-show, late pickup, cancellation), and pricing (per-head, per-chassis, add-ons). The FAQ below covers the most common questions in each theme.

Use cases & scenarios

Plan your slot

Read the licence and age section before booking; confirms who can drive vs ride.

On the day

Check the pickup, what to wear and what happens if late sections; covers the day-of variables.

After the slot

Photographer, refund and rescheduling sections cover what happens after.

Common questions

Booking, fitness, kids and what to bring.

Do I need a driving licence to ride?

To self-drive, yes - 18+ with valid driving licence (any country). Bring the physical card. To ride as passenger or on a guided slot, no licence required - just photo ID for the booking.

What is the minimum age?

Varies by chassis and slot. Family 4-seater accommodates kids 6+ with parent driving. Self-drive minimum is 18. Confirm specific child ages on WhatsApp.

Is hotel pickup included?

Yes from most central Dubai zones. Outlying zones, Sharjah and DXB carry a small transparent transfer surcharge - confirmed before deposit.

What should I wear?

Closed-toe shoes (mandatory), cotton or moisture-wicking layers, long sleeves recommended, sunglasses, head cover, sunscreen. Helmet, goggles and gloves provided.

Will the slot run if it rains?

Light rain - usually yes. Heavy rain or unsafe winds - we cancel for safety with refund or reschedule. Personal cancellations follow the cancellation policy.

Can I bring my own helmet?

Yes if it meets standard road / off-road safety certification. We supply a freshly-cleaned helmet on every slot regardless.

Are photos included?

Photo stops are built into the route. Photographer add-on is optional, quoted separately.

Can pregnant guests join?

Standard operator practice asks pregnant guests to skip the buggy due to chassis impact loads. Tell us at booking and we suggest gentler alternatives.

What happens if I am late to pickup?

Our 4x4 holds for the published pickup window. Past the late cut-off the slot is recorded as a no-show. Message us if running late.

Can I cancel and refund?

Per the cancellation policy - 96+ hours notice = 100% refund, 72+ hours = 50% refund, under 24 hours / no-show = 100% fee.

Is the buggy slot insured?

Standard liability insurance applies; insurance excess waiver available on request as an add-on.

What if I have not driven a buggy before?

Most slots run in convoy with a lead guide - you follow the line. The chassis has automatic gearbox; most road-licensed drivers feel comfortable inside ten minutes.

Can I bring a camera?

Yes - mount action cameras to the roll cage; hand-held cameras and phones are not safe during ride. Photo stops are the time for full cameras.

How many people in one buggy?

2-seater: 1 driver + 1 passenger. 4-seater: 1 driver + 3 passengers.

Are the dunes really safe?

Yes under our convoy format with full gear and lead-guide pacing. The Al Qudra corridor is a managed dune zone used by operator convoys daily.

Do you offer multi-day buggy packages?

Custom multi-day expeditions for confirmed-rider groups available by quote.

Pickup from Sharjah or DXB is possible on request and may carry a small transfer surcharge - confirmed upfront. See all Dubai pickup zones for the full hotel cluster map.

Pricing guidance

Buggy slots start from AED 299 for a 30-minute taster and rise with duration, vehicle and private/shared format. Final price for your slot depends on group size, vehicle pairing, day-of-week and any add-ons (photographer, sunset, private convoy). We quote the exact figure on WhatsApp before any deposit - no fake discounts, no bait pricing. Compare on the pricing & deals hub.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Booking an afternoon slot in peak summer (Jun-Aug) without checking heat policy first.
  • Showing up in sandals - closed shoes are required to ride.
  • Skipping the licence/ID check by booking self-drive when you don't carry a valid licence on the day.
  • Picking the cheapest 30-minute taster when the group has dune-experienced riders - one hour is the better fit.
