The quad-biking slot starts in the practice paddock, not in the dunes. Even confident motorcyclists begin here: a few laps on flat sand to feel the ATV's weight, the thumb throttle's bite, the brake's progression. Quads behave very differently from road bikes because the chassis is wider, the centre of gravity is higher, and soft sand answers throttle in a way tarmac never does. We do not move the convoy onto the dunes until every rider has the basics in hand.
From the paddock the convoy threads onto the entry corridor of the dune zone. Your guide rides at the front; the most-experienced rider in your group sits second, the least-confident rider sits last just ahead of the sweep. That ordering is deliberate - it means the rider most likely to wash off line has the guide's mirror on them at all times. The first dune crests are gentle on purpose; the route gets more dynamic only as the body reads the chassis better.
Quads make a different noise than buggies - a higher, sharper thread that carries in the still desert air. Most guests find that part of the appeal: you hear the engine, you hear the sand under the tyres, you hear the wind. Photo stops are built into every slot longer than thirty minutes; we kill the engines together, the dust falls, and for two minutes the dunes are just dunes. Then the convoy reassembles and the rhythm picks back up.
Practice circuit before the dunes, lower-power ATV options, instructor on hand.
Junior 110cc ATV available from age six with parent ride-along on the supervised circuit.
Yamaha Raptor or Grizzly chassis on the longer dune routes.
Convoy slots with shared briefing - every rider on their own machine.
Two-hour slot in private convoy on standard COBRA singles. Pace tuned to the slowest rider; the photo stop is built around the high crest in the middle of the route.
Junior 110cc ATVs on the supervised dune circuit, parents ride the standard chassis alongside. Slot length is 30 minutes for the youngest, extendable on the day if attention holds.
Yamaha Raptor 700 single, 1-hour route, smaller convoy of three or four similarly-experienced riders. We brief shorter, hold spacing tighter and pick a more dynamic line.
All slots open, comfortable temps, family slots fill fast.
Morning and sunset slots most comfortable.
Morning slots only by default. Afternoon slots paused for safety.
30 minutes on the COBRA single seater after the practice paddock - confidence-building entry slot.
Junior 110cc on the supervised circuit. Parent ride-along recommended.
Sunset 1-hour slot, two single-seaters in convoy or one Grizzly tandem.
Yamaha Raptor on the 1- or 2-hour route.

The quad bikes stage at our paddock on the western edge of the Al Qudra dune corridor, roughly 45 to 75 minutes from central Dubai. The corridor here has a tighter mix of soft and packed sand than the buggy route, which suits the lighter ATV chassis - the dunes hold their shape under the narrower tyres without churning into deep ruts. The same dune line photographs differently from the quad than from the buggy because you sit higher; sunset slots in particular catch the long shadow off the saddle, a shot that rarely works from a roll-cage seat. We rotate the dune zone within the corridor based on prevailing wind and slot demand so the line stays in good condition slot-to-slot.
Hotel pickup is included from most central Dubai zones - Marina, JBR, Downtown, Business Bay, Palm Jumeirah, Bur Dubai, Deira and Al Barsha. Drive time from your hotel to the staging area is around 40-70 minutes depending on cluster. We confirm the pickup window on WhatsApp after the slot is locked. Pickup from Sharjah or DXB is possible by request with a transparent transfer surcharge. See our Dubai pickup zones for the full hotel cluster map.
The ATV fleet is owned and maintained in our own workshop on a per-slot inspection cycle. Tyre pressures are set for soft sand (lower than road), suspension is checked for sag, and brake pads are walked before every convoy. The lead-rider guides hold a UAE off-road instructor licence and ride the same routes day in, day out - the line they choose for your group is informed by hundreds of hours in that corner of the corridor. We do not run a points-based commission scheme on add-ons, which means the photographer offer or the upgrade to the longer slot is mentioned only when it actually fits your group profile.

No - quad biking on the Al Qudra dune circuits does not require a road licence. Riders aged 18 or older sign a standard liability waiver. Younger riders use the kids slot with the supervised junior ATV.
From age six on the junior 110cc ATV with parent ride-along. Ages 12 and up may ride the standard COBRA single seater on the supervised dune circuit, depending on height and confidence.
Yes from most central Dubai zones. Pickup window is confirmed on WhatsApp once the slot is locked. Outlying zones, Sharjah and DXB may carry a small transfer surcharge - confirmed upfront.
The practice paddock is built for that. We start slow on the lowest-power ATV available, then progress to the dune circuit only when you are confident. Tell us on WhatsApp before booking and we'll plan the slot around the brief.
Only on the double-seater Yamaha Grizzly chassis. The standard single-seater quads are not built for two adults - one adult and one child within the height limit can share the Grizzly.
Rare in Dubai but it does happen. If we cancel for safety we reschedule or refund. Personal cancellations follow the cancellation policy page.
Yes, with six or more hours between flights and luggage stored in advance. The DXB pickup zone page covers the layover maths.
Standard slots include photo stops in the dunes. A dedicated photographer is an optional add-on - request before the slot.
The quad has no roll cage and no seat belt - you straddle the saddle, lean into corners and steer with the handlebars. Speed control is by thumb throttle. The body works harder than in a buggy because you balance the machine actively, but the steering response is more direct. Most guests describe the quad as more sporty, the buggy as more stable.
Honest answer: yes, mildly, especially on the inner thighs and forearms. The dunes ask the body to absorb chassis movement actively and to grip with the legs more than you expect. The 30-minute taster is fine for most fitness levels; the 1-hour and 2-hour slots are best with reasonable cardio. We recommend stretching before and after, and a long shower.
Most of our fleet is automatic with a single-speed transmission - no clutch, no gear shifts, just thumb throttle and brake. The Yamaha Raptor 700 has a semi-automatic option preferred by experienced riders. We confirm the chassis on WhatsApp once we know your group.
No. The convoy holds the spacing the guide sets, with the most-experienced rider near the front and slower riders mid-pack. Overtaking in soft sand kicks the front wheels into someone else's line and is the most common cause of avoidable spills. The guide rotates the line during stops if anyone wants more pace.
